Press Release Summary: 11 August 2008 - Some websites claim to provide a complete travel comparison service to their customers, but fail to deliver. Travelsupermarket is one such site. This is according to the premier car rental price comparison site on the internet, Carrentals.co.uk. They are the place to go when you need the best deal on a car hire. This is because Carrentals.co.uk is a true car rental price comparison website, offering a depth and breadth of car rental choices in terms of both vendors and locations.
Press Release Body: Gareth Robinson, Carretals.co.uk's managing director, says "Travelsupermarket bills itself as the travel comparison site, but in reality it only focuses on a limited number of locations and companies. The majority of its locations are at airports, and this provides no choice to customers who arrive in the UK by train or ferry, or who simply want to hire a car in a location such as Chamonix."
In a test comparison done on August 4 2008, Carrentals.co.uk found that in certain major locations such as London, Travelsupermarket only offered 21 locations, such as Luton, Stansted, City, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, compared to the 49 locations offered on the Carrentals.co.uk site. Carrentals' options included Vauxhall, West Hampstead, Wembley and Kensington, in addition to all of the above airports.
A price comparison conducted on the same day also showed that on ten of the most popular car rental locations, Carrentals.co.uk came in with the lower price in over 84% of the search results. This price comparison took into account queries for both the cheapest rentals available and specific requests for vehicles such as compacts, intermediate and specific models.
Robinson was also able to shed some light on why Carrentals.co.uk have the more comprehensive database. It all has to do with how the car rental companies are billed for their participation on price comparison sites.
Sites such as Travelsupermarket charge the car rental companies on a pay-per-click basis, rather than Carrentals' cost-per-acquisition pricing scheme. For this reason, only the largest car rental companies can afford to be listed on Travelsupermarket because of the possible high costs that will be incurred by their listing. They have to pay a fee to Travelsupermarket every single time someone even clicks on their link on Travelsupermarket's site. Carrentals.co.uk, on the other hand, only charges the car rental companies when they secure an actual inquiry from a customer. Any customer-entered search query on carrentals.co.uk will return results from the websites of Budget, Thrifty, Sixt, Holiday Autos, Opodo, EBookers, Carrentals.co.uk and Easy Car. The customer will also get quotes from many small car rental operators as well.
Carrentals.co.uk also offers customers a user-friendly website; in addition to its easy-to-use search engine for getting car hire quotes, Carrentals.com also features over 6,000 useful links to tourist information websites, as well as over 2,700 pages of travel-related information.
